Indicators

  • Number of learners enrolled in primary schools or equivalent non-school based settings with USG support
  • Number of learners enrolled in secondary schools or equivalent non-school based settings with USG support

Host country increases participation and equity in education

  • Refers both to government and non-government actors, since government may not have the resources or capacity to provide for increased education participation and equity.
  • Although the government will necessarily be a key partner in all bi-lateral assistance, the delivery of education services may be done by or with international and/or national civil society organizations, or private sector actors.

Access and Equity Pillars

  • Programmatic focus areas that support increased participation and equity in crisis and conflict-affected environments.
  • Represent the ‘what’ of USAID programming
  • Work in more than one pillar at a time is usually necessary

Implementation Modalities

  • Assessment of country and local context as basis for strategy & program
  • Institutional capacity development for local education partners
  • Development and delivery of direct education services (with host country institutions)
  • Support for knowledge sharing, evidence building and innovation
  • Strategic partnerships to leverage investments and create synergy
